Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) before using https://dreadwickco.com (the “Site”) or buying anything from Dread WickCo. (“DreadWick,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing the Site, creating an account, joining our email list, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Shipping Policy, Return & Refund Policy, and Candle Safety & Legal Disclaimers. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or buy from us.
These Terms are a legally binding agreement.
1. Who We Are
Dread WickCo. is a U.S. online shop selling signature scent, hand-poured candles and related goods. The Site is hosted by Shopify. We currently sell and ship only within the United States and U.S. territories, as described in our Shipping Policy.
2. Eligibility
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
You must be able to form a binding contract to place an order. In the United States that is generally 18 years of age. If you are 13-17 years old, you may browse the Site, but a parent or legal guardian must place the order, use their own payment method, and agree to these Terms on your behalf. By placing an order, the person paying represents that they are 18 or older (or the parent/guardian of the recipient) and that they accept these Terms, the Shipping Policy, the Return & Refund Policy, and the Candle Safety & Legal Disclaimers.
Candles are open-flame products. An adult should supervise burning, regardless of who received the candle as a gift.
3. Products and Handmade Nature
Our candles are hand-poured in small batches.
- Color, frost, texture, wick position, and scent throw can vary from batch to batch and from the photos on the Site
- Fragrance is a sensory experience; how strong a candle smells to you depends on room size, airflow, temperature, and your own nose
- Product titles, stories, and collection names are atmospheric. They are entertainment and branding, not a promise of any supernatural, medical, or therapeutic result
We may limit quantities, discontinue scents, or correct pricing or description errors at any time before we accept an order.
4. Orders, Pricing, and Payment
An order is an offer to buy. We may accept or reject it. We accept it when we send an order or shipping confirmation, or when we begin fulfilling the order.
- Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change
- You authorize us and our payment processor to charge the payment method you provide for the order total, including tax and shipping
- If payment fails, the order may be cancelled
- We may cancel an order for suspected fraud, allocation limits, inability to ship to the address, or obvious pricing errors
Promotional codes apply only as stated and cannot be combined unless we say so.
5. Shipping
Shipping is governed by our **Shipping Policy**, which is part of these Terms.
Important points:
- We ship to all 50 U.S. states, D.C., and U.S. territories
- We do not currently ship outside the United States
- Processing can take *up to four (4) weeks* because candles are hand-poured and require about *two (2) weeks to cure* before they ship
- Halloween, Christmas, and other peak periods can add carrier delay on top of that processing window
- We do not guarantee arrival by a holiday or event date unless we confirm that in writing
6. Returns and Refunds
Returns and refunds are governed by our Return & Refund Policy, which is part of these Terms. Please read it before you buy.
7. Intellectual Property — Our Work
Unless we clearly say otherwise, Dread WickCo. owns all content on the Site and in our products and marketing, including without limitation:
- Candle and collection names
- Scent names, descriptions, and blend concepts as we present them
- Label artwork, layout, typography, and photography
- Product photography, videos, reels, and lifestyle images
- Logo, brand marks, trade dress, and the Dread WickCo. name
- Website copy, product stories, graphics, and design
You may not copy, scrape, reproduce, sell, or create competing products from our names, labels, photos, or copy without our prior written permission.
Buying a candle does not transfer any intellectual property to you except the physical product you paid for.
8. Inspired By / Unofficial Fan Tribute — No Affiliation, No License
Some Dread WickCo names, stories, artwork styles, and collections are inspired by books, films, television, folklore, public-domain horror, and pop culture. They are unofficial fan tributes and original atmospheric branding.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or licensed by any studio, network, publisher, author, estate, trademark owner, or rights holder of any character, title, franchise, or property that a customer might associate with a scent or collection name.
- We do not hold licenses for any third-party character, film, series, or franchise
- Names and stories are our original commercial presentation and/or tribute-style branding
- Any resemblance to existing characters or titles is inspirational and unofficial
- You should not treat a product name as an official licensed collectible

9. Candle Use, Fire, Property Damage, and Allergic Reactions — No Liability
Candles are open-flame products. Fire, heat, melted wax, broken glass, smoke, and fragrance oils can cause injury, death, property damage, or irritation.
You assume all risk of using any Dread WickCo product.
By purchasing or using our products, you agree that:
- You will follow the burn instructions on the label, on the product page, and in our Candle Safety & Legal Disclaimers
- You will never leave a burning candle unattended
- You will keep candles away from children, pets, drafts, curtains, and anything that can burn
- You will use a heat-safe, level surface
- Fragrance and essential-oil components can trigger headaches, asthma, skin irritation, or allergic reactions in some people. Our products are not medicine, and we do not promise they are allergen-free
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dread WickCo., its owners, employees, and suppliers are not liable for fire, smoke damage, burned property, broken glass, personal injury, death, pet injury, allergic or respiratory reaction, migraine, or any other damage or loss arising from the use, misuse, or inability to use our products, even if we were advised that such damage might occur.
If a jurisdiction does not allow a full release, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the specific product that gave rise to the claim.
This section is a core part of the bargain. We would not sell candles at our prices without it.
10. Disclaimers
THE SITE AND ALL PRODUCTS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that product colors on your screen match the physical item.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DREAD WICKCO. WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER THEORY.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SITE OR A PRODUCT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE PRODUCT OR ORDER AT ISSUE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
Some states do not allow certain limitations. In those states, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed.
12. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dread WickCo. and its owners and agents from claims, damages, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising out of your misuse of the Site or products, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of anyone else’s rights.
13. User Content and Reviews
If you post a review, photo, or comment, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that content to operate and promote Dread WickCo. You represent that the content is yours to share and does not infringe anyone else’s rights. We may remove content at our discretion.
14. Acceptable Use
You may not:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
- Scrape, harvest, or overload the Site
- Attempt to probe or disrupt our systems
- Impersonate Dread WickCo or anyone else
- Use our photos, labels, or names to sell knockoffs
15. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. The Site is hosted by Shopify, which processes customer data to run checkout and the store.
16. Third-Party Links and Tools
The Site may link to third parties (payment processors, social platforms, carriers). We are not responsible for their content or practices.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms at any time by posting a new version on the Site with a new Last updated date. Continued use or a new order after the change means you accept the updated Terms. Orders already accepted are governed by the Terms in effect when you placed them, except where the law requires otherwise.
18. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms and any dispute related to the Site or your order are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
You agree to first email us at dreadwickco@gmail.com and try to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days. If that fails, exclusive venue is the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
If you are a consumer, you may have rights that these Terms cannot waive. Nothing here limits those non-waivable rights.
19. General
If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, plus the policies linked from them, are the entire agreement between you and Dread WickCo. about the Site and your purchases. You may not assign your rights without our consent. We may assign these Terms.
